How we treat your data
Revised 1 November 2026
Hazelburngames privacy in a nutshell
Hazelburngames collects as little as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no comment forms, no analytics and no advertising trackers on this site. The few things we do store live in your own browser, not with us. This page explains exactly what that means.
This policy is written with the UK GDPR in mind, and we have tried to keep it as readable as the rest of the site.
What stays in your browser
When you tap a heart to add a game to your shortlist, that list is saved in your browser’s localStorage. The same applies to your answer on the cookie notice. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us; we cannot see your shortlist or your choice.
If you clear your browser data, or use a private window, these preferences are removed. A shortlist saved on one device does not appear on another, though you can copy a share link to move it across yourself.
Fonts from Google
Our pages use typefaces served by Google Fonts. To deliver the font files, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and basic browser details such as the browser type. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy.
We use Google Fonts so the site looks the way we designed it on every device. We do not receive any data from Google about your visit.
Writing to the editors
If you email us at editors@hazelburngames.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use that information only to read and reply to you, and we keep it only for as long as the conversation needs.
We never add you to a mailing list or share your message with anyone else. If you would like us to delete an email you sent, just ask.
Leaving for a game’s website
When you click a play button, the game’s official website opens in a new tab. From that point you are on the publisher’s site, and their own privacy policy covers any data they collect, including accounts, chat and room activity.
We do not pass any information about you to those publishers. Each site handles its own visitors under its own policy, which we recommend reading.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have rights over your personal data, including the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. In practice the only personal data we might hold is an email you sent us, so requests are quick to handle.
If you are unhappy with how we have dealt with your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the regulator for data protection in the UK. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes and contact
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date shown at the top. Any meaningful change will be described here in plain terms.
Questions about privacy can be sent to editors@hazelburngames.com. We read every message and will reply as soon as we can.
